Before you set your heart on saying “I do” atop of Cadillac Mountain here are a few need to know tips when planning your wedding at Maine’s most popular natural attraction.
Acadia National Park Wedding Planning Tips
- Permits are required for wedding ceremonies in the park, with the exception of simple ceremonies.
- You must submit a permit application accompanied with a $50, nonrefundable fee.
- Choose your date and location wisely! Permits may be denied for some locations during peek and off seasons.
- Receptions are not permitted in the park, unless they are held at a park concession facility.
- The use of canopies, arches, chairs, or other decorations require park administrative review and are typically not allowed.
- Entrance fees into the park are not waived for permit holders or their guests.
- The permit does not allow your ceremony to restrict other park visitors from your chosen location, nor does it guarantee you a specific site. So, be prepared to have some onlookers!
- To maximize privacy schedule your ceremony for early or late in the day, and avoid sites that attract a large number of visitors.
- Releasing balloons, doves, or butterflies and the throwing of rice, birdseed, flower petals, or other natural or artificial material is not allowed.
- Amplified music and PA systems are prohibited. Non-amplified music and musical instruments are also not allowed.While it seems like a lot of restrictions we can guarantee that holding your wedding ceremony at Acadia National Park will be well worth it!
