When Sam and Alex began planning their wedding in coastal Maine wedding in Harpswell we were thrilled that they reached out to us for Day of Coordination services. They were about about a year out from their wedding date but were planning the details all the way from San Francisco.
A Coastal Maine Wedding in Harpswell
Sam’s family owns a barn property in Harpswell, which both he and Alex felt would make the perfect setting for their relaxed and informal wedding day. It was important to them that 160 of their closest family and friends be able to attend and have a true Maine experience.
They opted to have their ceremony on the lawn of the Harpswell Inn, overlooking the rocky Maine coast. Their ceremony was officiated by a close friend who spoke about how they met at Bentley College and decided together to make the move from Boston to San Francisco. Alex and Sam wrote their owns vows and spoke from their hearts.
After the ceremony, signature blueberry vodka cocktails, crafted by the Bar Association, awaited Sam and Alex as they took a boat ride out in Harpswell Bay while Leah Fisher Photography captured their first moments as husband and wife. Meanwhile, guests were treated to a raw oyster bar, cucumber cups with smoked salmon and dill crème fraiche and caprese skewers by Farm to Coast Mobile Catering.
Dinner was served under a Sailcloth Tent provided by One Stop Event Rentals. Guests were seated in 4 long rows, family style. To carry the coastal Maine feel of their wedding, Sam and Alex selected navy blue and white linens and accented their tables with clear glass jars of varying heights, trimmed with rustic hemp rope and filled with sand and candles rented from Maine Seasons Events. Ocean blue matchboxes etched with silver anchors and their wedding date adorned each guest’s place setting. Guests had a true Maine experience by feasting on Maine lobster rolls, grilled chicken skewers, seasonal green and roasted fingerling potato salad.
After dinner guests headed over to the family barn which was transformed into a rustic nightclub feel complete with lobster head bands and glow necklaces for the guests and a lounge area with furniture crafted out of lobster traps! The party was kept lively by music from The Time Pilots, they even sang their own rendition of a California classic, God Only Knows for Sam and Alex’s first dance.
We loved working with Sam and Alex on their coastal Maine wedding in Harpswell! Despite us being hot and our skin salty from the coastal Maine air at the end of their wedding, Alex and Sam enjoyed their Maine wedding day free of stress and worry, their event flowed smoothly and their guests were happy!
